Teaching Philosophy: In my class, I am responsible for setting the right tone of the learning and working environment and providing learning opportunities that align with the course aims. I ensure that a positive tone is set by sharing my knowledge and my enthusiasm for the chemistry field. Also, I have to assign my belief that the students are there to learn optimum knowledge about the course; and to learn to utilize the materials used in the laboratory. In the class and laboratory, I try to engage students in various ways, and I provide my students with the simplest teaching techniques that work the best with the laboratory. I use pictures and diagrams and other visual representations to explain the subjects. The visual impact of seeing how the experiments work or occur is powerful, and students learn that the subject is significant and not complicated. In addition, as a lecturer, I don’t want my students to leave class with their heads spinning from the subjects that they have learned. I want them to engage the material at hand and leave each class with a concrete understanding. So I also try to end each class with three minutes of summary and give them short feedback.
